MOTUL, MAJOR PARTNER OF THE DAKAR RALLY
Universally recognized as one of the most grueling and challenging motorsport events in the world, the Dakar is a tremendous showcase for Motul’s products. Successfully involved for many years through technical partnerships with competitors in all categories, the international lubricant specialist stepped up in 2018 to become a Major Partner of the event.
Performance and reliability are paramount: on the mechanical side, every single component, lubricant and accessory plays its part while the terrain, climate and endurance required by competitors can be punishing. The Dakar offers Motul the perfect living laboratory to test and develop its full range of products under the most extreme of conditions. Carried out in conjunction with some of the world’s most successful factory teams such as HRC, Polaris, Toyota Auto Body, Motul offers its partners specially adapted high-performance lubricants and coolants from its 300V Motorsport Line (Auto) and 300V Factory Line (Powersports), for maximum protection and outstanding results.
During the event itself, competitors can count on the advice and expertise of Motul’s Motorsport Technical Team which works on prestigious and exciting events such as MotoGP™, 24 Hours of Le Mans or Isle of Man TT. At the Dakar, the team is present at every Service Centre with the Motul Racing Laboratory: an invaluable service offering a daily oil analysis to all competitors of all categories, to ensure their engine is performing at its peak, whether they use Motul oils or not.
Performance matters everywhere, as do values which are shared by Motul and Dakar. Supporting each other on the ground, going the extra mile and sharing things together led Motul to the creation of a prize highlighting these human values. Motul is also proud to support the ‘Original by Motul’ riders, the true gladiators who come with no assistance or backup. By giving them some recognition, as well as more basic comfort at the bivouacs, their chance to shine during the rally is increased thanks to Motul.
BFGoodrich has been active in the competitive off-road scene in the USA since 1973, but it was onlycountry rally – the Dakar.
Since 2002, BFGoodrich® has won every Dakar it has contested and its record today stands at 18 outright victories as it prepares to tackle next January’s event for which it has again been named official tire supplier.

The BFGoodrich® Dakar Service Center: a premium service at overnight halts for all competitors
As official supplier to the 2023 Dakar, as in the previous years, BFGoodrich® will offer all competitors a comprehensive range of services thanks to the BFGoodrich® Dakar Service Center which will operate daily from 3pm to 11pm. In general, 2500 tires are fitted and removed along the route.
Erecting the facility begins every morning at 10am and it is dismantled once the evening’s work has been completed, allowing BFGoodrich®’s staff to drive on to the next day’s bivouac.
This unique facility gathering the Dakar partners, provides competitors with the following services:
- Tire removal, fitting and repairs motorbike and auto (irrespective of brand)
- A free service for competitors on BFGoodrich® tires,
- Analyse of engine oil
With BFGoodrich® looking to claim its 19th Dakar win, join us as we rise to the challenge of the 2023 event. Indeed, when competitors line up for January’s start in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the majority of the vehicles will be equipped with BFGoodrich® rubber which is also the preferred choice for the many amateurs whose sole objective is to reach the finish.
